Any project you've done on the 2500 should load into beats software with no problems but it probably wont covert any fx used on 2500 (idk and dont have a 2500 to test). If u went that route you could have 8outs from mpc going to your interface at all times and use the "extra" inputs for other instruments, mics, or some routing options for outboard processing gear. U literally can buy that and an expansion unit (connected via adat) that would double your ins/outs for less than the scarlett by itself. Im not knocking the focusrite scarlett (it was on my wishlist) but the behringer umc 1820 has the features at half the cost. Heres a few options: Learn the beats software cuz it's dope. No need to mess with any software beyond recording into protools for some editing and mixing. It records midi program changes and midi cc. In my opinion, the 2500 is one of the best sequencers ever made. Makes it way easier to keep the wires clean and easy to change to any configuration. If you’re planning on more hardware, I’d recommend getting a patchbay too. These will need a mic pre with the matching digital connections to use those inputs. Most large interfaces have 8 analog inputs, then some sort of digital inputs to add extra channels. An interface that has midi I/O, headphone out and outs for monitors, and enough inputs to make multi tracking not too much of a chore. I can do 10 simultaneous inputs right now, and could add 8 more if I bought a Adat mic pre. I use the SPDIF to connect to a ART MPA digital 2 channel mic pre. The ADAT and SPDIF connections connect to digital mic pres to give you more I/O. Yeah, it’s just a newer Mbox with more I/O.
